After two years on the market, Jim Carrey has finally sold his Malibu home.
The "Dumb and Dumber" star bought the three-bedroom, 2,866 square-foot home in 2002 for $9.75 million. Homes in Carrey's Malibu neighborhood are a hot commodity among celebrities, but the house's comparatively small size made it less appealing to potential buyers.
He first listed the oceanfront home in 2011 for $18 million, but could not get the offer he wanted. In fact, he took the house off the market for some time in 2012 and relisted it at $13.95 million. He ended up selling for $13.4 million -- $4.6 less than his original price -- but Carrey was at least able to turn a profit.
The area has been home to the Spielbergs and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, who just snapped up the home of former Yahoo! CEO Terry Semel.
Carrey's former home is a contemporary window-filled property that fits in a view of the ocean wherever possible. It features multiple decks, a hot tub, a fully-updated kitchen with high-end finishes and an outdoor shower.
Carrey is reported to be looking to uproot himself and move to Manhattan as he looks at real estate there, including a $19 million ClockTower penthouse in Brooklyn. The DUMBO penthouse is currently home to Esquire's 7,000-square-foot bachelor pad showhouse.
That property is listed by the Kleiers, celebrity realtors of HGTV's "Selling New York."
