Anonymous hacker faces more jail time than rapists he outed

June 7 (UPI) -- Deric Lostutter, the Anonymous hacker who helped expose the Steubenville, Ohio rape scandal, has published his account of an April FBI raid on his home in connection with the case.

When federal agents arrived at his Winchester Kentucky farm, Lostutter, a 26-year-old corporate cybersecurity consultant, thought he was opening the door to a FedEx delivery driver.

"As I open the door to greet the driver, approximately 12 FBI SWAT team agents jumped out of the truck, screaming for me to "Get the [expletive] down!" with M-16 assault rifles and full riot gear, armed, safety off, pointed directly at my head," Lostutter, formerly known as KYAnonymous, wrote on the Project KnightSec page. "I was handcuffed and detained outside while they cleared my house."

The FBI warrant was seeking evidence in connection with the hacking of Steubenville team fan page RollRedRoll.com, in which a video showing Lostutter wearing a Guy Fawkes mask was posted to the front page.

Though Lostutter's video was posted to the site, he says he played no role in the hacking, noting another hacker, known as Batcat, had already publicly taken responsibility.

Many believe the Stebenville rape would not have become national news without the help of Lostutter. If convicted of hacking-related crimes, Lostutter could face up to 10 years in prison, while the Steubenville rapists are serving one- and two-year sentences.
