June 6 (UPI) -- The secret files of Hollywood private eye Fred Otash, made public Thursday by The Hollywood Reporter, reveal intimate details about a number of 1950s household names, including JFK, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.

Also found was a recording of a 1958 conversation between movie star Rock Hudson and his wife, Phyllis Gates, who had hired Otash to record her confronting her husband about his homosexuality.

"Everyone knows that you were picking up boys off the street shortly after we were married and have continued to do so, thinking that being married would cover up for you," Gates told Husdon.

"I have never picked up any boys on the street," he responded. "I have never picked up any boys in a bar, never. I have never picked up any boys, other than to give them a ride."

"I'm not condemning you, but it seems that as long as you recognize your problem, you would want to do something about it," Gates said.

Hudson, who died of AIDS in 1985, never came out publicly during his lifetime.
