12-year-old denies charge in sister stabbing

May 30 (UPI) -- A California 12-year-old denied murdering his 8-year-old sister, entering the equivalent of a not guilty plea to second-degree murder charges in court Wednesday.

Isaiah Fowler, who is accused of stabbing to death his sister Leila at their home in Valley Springs on April 27, told investigators she was murdered by an intruder.

Isaiah is due back in Calaveras County Court in July, and defense attorneys have more than 1,000 hours of police work to comb through before the trial, Fox 40 reported.

The child remains in juvenile detention as his family is in the process of moving.
