Authorities said a 62-year-old man died after plummeting to the Earth in California in a skydiving accident Saturday afternoon.

Authorities said Lake Elsinore police officers responded to the backyard of a home where they found the fallen skydiver, identified as Ken Oka of Mira Loma, reports U-T San Diego.

An investigation found that a group of skydivers were trying a multiple person maneuver when Oka became entangled in a parachute, according to a news release.

Oka was apparently unable to free himself and fell to the ground. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Police said the Federal Aviation Administration is conducting an independent investigation.
