Amanda Knox ex Raffaele Sollecito speaks out on 'Today'

Amanda Knox's Italian ex boyfriend Rafaelle Solecito opened up in an interview on the "Today" show Friday about the reasons that made him stay by Knox's side throughout the duo's legal battle in connection to Meredith Kercher's death.

Solecito, who was offered several deals to turn on Knox, said he stood by her side despite having only known her for seven days because he was confident in their innocence.

“I'm innocent, and we got evidence of our innocence, so we will fight until the end without any worry," said Raffaele Sollecito, author of the new book “Honor Bound: My Journey to Hell and Back with Amanda Knox.”

Asked if he fears he might get sent back to prison now that the appeal has been overturned, he said he wasn't.

“No,” he replied. “It’s something like a very far-away thought in my mind. I already know that I'm innocent and we already have proved it. So for me, it's kind of nonsense.”

In regards to his relationship with Knox, and whether or not she thanked him for having her back, Solecito said she's told him she sees him as some sort of "hero."

Concerning his upcoming re-trial in front of Italy's Supreme Court, Sollecito said he had to consult with his lawyer before deciding whether or not he'll travel back to Italy.
