May 16 (UPI) -- Jodi Rock of Talequah, Okla., may not get to see her 15-month-old son until he is of legal voting age.

Rock, 20, entered a no-contest plea in the Cherokee County District Court to enabling child abuse by injury after burning her son's genitals with a flatiron. She was sentenced to 17 years in prison, according to NewsOK.

Rock's arrest affidavit said that the woman closed the flatiron's clamp on her toddler's genitals. Her son had three burns across his genital area, from thigh to thigh and across his testicles.

Investigators also found several fractures on the child's left shoulder, and old fractures on his right shoulder, forearm and wrist.

The child remains in state custody. Rock did not provide a reason for her actions.
