Aretha Franklin cancels two U.S. concerts over health issues

May 14 (UPI) -- Aretha Franklin has cancelled two performances that were set to take place on May 20 and May 26 due to her doctor's recommendations for treatment. The singer made the announcement via Facebook on Monday.

"Ms. Aretha Franklin has regretfully withdrawn from her scheduled performances at Foxwoods Resort & Casino and with Members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) on Monday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m. celebrating the 24th annual Corporate Night," read the statement on Franklin's Facebook wall.

The announcement also explained that Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Janelle MonĂ¡e would be performing in Franklin's place with the CSO.
