In a YouTube video making the rounds this weekend, an apparently drunk off-duty field guide runs toward a wild elephant at South Africa's Kruger National Park. Luckily for the man, the elephant runs away instead of attacking him.
Posted to YouTube by "Kruger Sightings," the video's caption reads, "an absolute disgrace. Such behavior is not allowed and should never be done."
According to The South African, the incident occurred on a reserve owned by Singita lodges.
The company admitted that the video involved a Singita staff member and denounced the behavior in a message on its Facebook page:
Very disturbing video footage in the social media arena has been brought to our attention and we are conducting a serious investigation into the background of what took place. The behaviour displayed in this video completely contradicts Singita's guiding ethos. The harshest disciplinary measures will be taken to address this incident.
We appreciate your support as we get to the bottom of this.
Kind thanks, the Singita Team
