[VIDEO] Seven Americans killed in Afghanistan cargo plane crash

Seven Americans died in a cargo plane crash in Afghanistan on Monday morning.

Pix11 reports, seven crew members aboard National Airlines's flight NCR102 lost their lives when the plane crashed shortly after taking off from Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan at around 7 a.m. The Boeing 747-400 was on its way to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

National, which specializes in moving freight for military business, said in a statement there were no passengers on the plane.

“This was a purely cargo flight and no passengers were aboard,” a company statement said. “Cargo consisted of vehicles and routine general cargo.”

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined, but National Airlines President Glen Joerger, said in a statement they were working diligently to figure it out adding that "safety was always priority for National Airlines."

“This is a devastating loss for our family and we’ll work diligently with authorities to find the cause,” Joerger said.

The victims were identified as Brad Hasler, Jeremy Lipka, Jamie Brokaw, Rinku Summan, Michael Sheets and Gary Stockdale, all from Michigan, and Timothy Garrett from Kentucky.
