According to the Los Angeles Times, Scott approached Piquet about an earlier crash. Multiple pit crew members joined the altercation when Piquet kicked Scott between the legs.
Police arrested Scott pit crew members Michael Searce and Thomas Costello for allegedly assaulting Piquet when the fight flowed into a nearby parking lot.
Scott team owner, Richard Childress Racing, responded to the arrests in a statement:
Our team members were walking to their cars and words were exchanged with members from another team, which led to an altercation. I am still learning all the exact details and, because it did happen outside of the track, and local authorities became involved. We are working with them to resolve this matter.
