April 26 (UPI) -- The Pretzelmaker chain is celebrating National Pretzel Day today by offering free pretzels.

According to the LA Times, the holiday originated 30 yeas ago when Pennsylvania Rep. Robert S. Walker declared April 26 would be a commemorative day for pretzels. Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell re-declared the holiday in 2003.

To celebrate this important holiday Pretzelmaker will be handing out free -- salted and unsalted -- pretzels in select locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware and Florida. Customers only have to tell a joke to get their treat.

Happy National Pretzel Day!!
