Speaking to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Wednesday, Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe said the USPS had been operating with a broken business model since the economic recession of 2008.

Donahoe explained that ever since the recession the U.S. Postal service has been dealing with an imbalance between revenue and cost, noting that such imbalance would only get worse in the future unless new laws are put in place.

“We are losing $25 million dollars every day and we are on an unsustainable path,” Donahoe said.
