Port of Tampa evacuated on discovery of suspicious package

April 18 (UPI) -- A suspicious package has led officials to evacuate the Port of Tampa, WFTS reports.

During a routine cargo screening, a trained K-9 unit alerted personnel to an item near a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Personnel brought in a second K-9 unit that alerted them to the same package. The Sheriff's office and bomb technicians from the Tampa Police Department are evaluating the package. The area has been evacuated, and the Florida Aquarium parking lot has been closed.
