Faith Hill has lent her voice to NBC's "Sunday Night Football" intro for the last six years, singing "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" to the tune of Joan Jett's 1988 hit, "I Hate Myself for Loving You."
But the 45-year-old country star said Sunday that she had parted ways with the popular football telecast to let "someone else rock the open," NFL.com reported Monday.
Amazing 2 have been part of SNF - an honor. I've just let everyone there know it's time 2 let someone else rock the open.— Faith Hill (@FaithHill) April 15, 2013
….Difficult decision.Kinda emotional. Love all u guys at SNF - I'll b watching!!!— Faith Hill (@FaithHill) April 15, 2013
"Sunday Night Football's" Twitter feed called Hill's departure the "end of an era."tweeted his "great love and appreciation" to Hill for her work. He also told Pro Football Talk that the "SNF" would keep Hill's rendition of the Joan Jett song, but work with the replacement performer on a new arrangement.
"It's our anthem," Gaudelli said.
Hill's "Sunday Night" intro, which featured footage of various NFL stars, played at the top of each telecast.
