Billy Joel has reportedly hired bodyguards for his 27-year-old daughter, Alexa Ray, after she received a series of threatening Facebook messages involving “pedophilia, sadistic-sexual behavior, violent physical assaults and murder," the Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.
According to the New York Post, Joel also hired a private-security firm recommended by Paul McCartney to track down the alleged cyberstalker, 40-year-old Sheryl Finley, who was found naked in the woods in Minnesota in January.
Finley allegedly sent Alexa Ray, Joel's daughter with ex-wife Christie Brinkley, more than 60 Facebook messages under a fake name that made the aspiring singer afraid to leave her home, the Post said.
Finley, who was committed to a mental institution in 2010, plead not guilty to the charges, but faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Prosecutors said that Finley hoped Alexa Ray wouldn't "object to meeting with her."
