A preview for the new season of Discovery's popular extreme fishing reality show has fans wondering about the fate of one of the show's stars.

Elliott Neese, captain of the Ramblin' Rose does not appear in a promo video released ahead of the April 16 Season 9 premiere, setting off speculation that the show's youngest captain couldn't hack it after a tough eighth season.

“In all honesty, I’m kinda not surprised Elliott isn’t here this year," said Sig Hansen, captain of the Northwestern. "No owner is going to let a guy run a boat and not produce. You’re going to lose your job.”

But Discovery [SPOILER ALERT] released a statement confirming Neese's return, although he will be captaining his own vessel as he struggles with debt:

“The youngest skipper in the fleet, Elliott Neese, is all in this year as he returns as the owner of his own boat, the F/V Saga. With more than $1 million in the hole and 10 bucks to his name, the stakes have never been higher for Neese.”

Neese confirmed the news himself, warning his Twitter followers not to believe all the "drama and conflict and resolution" they saw on television.
