Ryan Seacrest 'swatted' in latest celebrity 911 hoax

Ryan Seacrest became the latest victim of the celebrity "swatting" craze -- in which perpetrators place 911 calls to report fake emergencies -- after someone alerted police that armed men were trying to break into his Beverly Hills home Wednesday.

Police arrived at the scene to find Seacrest in safety at his house with no sign of armed gunman, CNN reported Wednesday.

Beverly Hills Police said there were "no signs of trouble" in a later tweet about the incident.

Comedian Russell Brand had only just discussed his own "swatting" experience on Seacrest's radio show Wednesday morning. On Monday, police responded to a fake 911 call about an armed man at Brand's home.

“'Swatting,' I don’t like the word very much. Swatting, obviously what you do to insects or a passing bottom,” Brand told Seacrest. “If all swatting attacks are this unnoticeable, I’m ready for war because I didn’t even know it had happened. I still don’t know what a swatting attack is.”

Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Tom Cruise and Ashton Kutcher have all been victims of "swatting," named after the SWAT teams that LAPD occasionally uses for emergency response.
