April 8 (UPI) -- A retired dog lover from Catamarca, Argentina found out the hard way that his reasonably priced toy poodles were actually hormonally enhanced ferrets with fancy hairdos. The man purchased his "poodles" from La Salada market in Buenos Aires, where another customer said she once bought a ferret she thought was a Chihuahua.
A Buenos Aires news report picked up by the Daily Mail claimed that the unidentified man took his animals to the veterinarian for vaccinations, and was told that his two new pets were actually ferrets.
The vet assumed the ferrets had been given steroids at birth and were groomed to poodle standards.
