Daddy Yankee, the Puerto Rican reggaeton artist behind hits like "Gasolina," and his spokesperson have publicly refuted rumors that he's gay.
Daddy Yankee's rep, Mayna Nevarez, blamed online media for "spreading false news reports":
"Online blogs and social media are once again to blame for the spread of false news reports, which other media outlets have also shared regarding a public figure. The reports circulating regarding Daddy Yankee's declaration of homosexuality was falsely written by an online outlet known for fabricating false information and spreading it through social media sites."
The speculation started when Spanish-language websites published photos of a man who looks like Daddy Yankee, kissing another man, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The 36-year-old singer also addressed the rumors indirectly on his Twitter account, turning to a quote by Albert Einstein, "I fear the day when technology exceeds our humanity the world will only have a generation of idiots."
"They've killed me, they've defamed me and they will continue to invent sh** about me online, but there is only one truth," he added in Spanish.
