President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and their daughters Sasha and Malia took the leisurely walk through Lafayette Park from the White House to St. Johns Episcopal Church in Washington for Easter Sunday services.
While the president stepped out in a light gray suit and blue tie, the 49-year-old first lady and fashion icon opted for pale gray dress and overcoat from Nepali-American designer Prabal Gurung's Spring 2010 collection. The first lady wore the same dress in May of last year when former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, visited the White House.
According to pool reports, Rev. Dr. Luis Leon, who gave the benediction at the president's inauguration in January, preached a sermon with the occasional political message.
"It drives me crazy when the captains of the religious right are always calling us back ... for blacks to be back in the back of the bus ... for women to be back in the kitchen ... for immigrants to be back on their side of the border."
