Frito-Lay's Doritos has taken its artery-busting alliance with Taco Bell to self-referential heights never before seen in the chip world. You will soon be able to eat Doritos chips that taste like Taco Bell tacos that were made to taste like Doritos chips. Confused?
"The rumors are true. Doritos Locos Tacos are becoming Doritos chips," Doritos said on its Facebook page Monday. The company's partnership with Taco Bell -- which produced a line of Taco Bell tacos flavored like Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch Doritos -- proved so popular last year that Taco Bell hired 15,000 people to "handle the growth." According to the Daily Beast, Taco Bell sold a million Doritos Locos Tacos per day in 2012.
Frito-Lay was so inspired by the success of its Doritos-Taco Bell line, they've created a series of Doritos Locos taco-flavored chips, headed for shelves April 8.
Doritos made the announcement Monday over Twitter:
Doritos Locos Tacos will become chips 4/8! Your chance to win a #DoritosPallet: tell us how bold you'd go to try them pub.vitrue.com/tOZX
