In its first joint production with Imax, Disney is backing the latest 3D space film by Toni Myers of "Space Station 3D" and "Hubble 3D," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

NASA will also partner with Imax on the new space production. The Disney-Imax project will use high-resolution photography and videography to show viewers a rapidly changing Earth from space.

"Disney has always been a leader in creating immersive fantasy worlds for audiences, but we know there's no more immersive world than the real one," said Alan Bergman, president of Walt Disney Studios, in a statement Wednesday.

Disney's co-producer agreement with Imax follows the release of studio titles "Fantasia 2000" and "Oz The Great and Powerful."

“Toni Myers and her team have given us films that have been educating, delighting and astonishing Imax audiences for many years, and we look forward to continuing the journey with this latest spectacle,” Greg Foster, chairman and president of Imax Entertainment, said in his own statement.
