[VIDEO] Meet Kayode, the baby rhino born at San Diego Zoo Safari Park

A white rhinoceros calf named Kyode is the newest member of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park family.

Kayode, which means 'he brings joy' in the West African language of Yoruba, was born on Feb. 25 and weighed around 125 pounds at birth. At 11-days-old the baby rhino has made quite the impression among his care takers, and now the Internet, for his friendly personality.

How does a rhino show personality you ask? Well, Kyode does it by sticking out his tongue while exploring his new habitat.

"I think he sticks out his tongue because that's his personality. I've seen several other little white rhinos and they haven't done that before," said Jane Kennedy, a zoo staffer.

Park staff said the rhino has been spotted surveying the 55-acre East African Plains enclosure where he lives, but staying close to his mother while he does it, Fox 5 San Diego reported.

Southern white rhinos, the largest in the rhino family and native to Southern and Central Africa, are considered near-threatened, according to zoo staff. There are an estimated 20,000 southern white rhinos remaining in the wild.
