Selena Gomez is just another girl waiting to fall in love, talk on the phone with her girlfriends and wear flannel on weekends.

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, the 20-year-old star opened up about her (as of now) off-again relationship with Justin Bieber and confessed the pair went above and beyond to ignore the media frenzy surrounding their courtship.

"To me, love is normal," Gomez says "Of course, you see [Jay-Z] and Beyoncé and you're like, 'Oh, my gosh, they're perfect for each other,' but at the end of the day their love is just like everybody else's love. They have problems, I'm sure, and they solve them, like anybody else."

Gomez revealed that normalcy "was super important" to both her and Bieber, which according to her "was great" because "that's how it should be."

In spite her obvious celebrity status, Gomez tries to remain as grounded as possible. She says that day-to-day she "doesn't give a damn" what she looks like and values the relationship she has with both her famous and non-famous girlfriends the most.

"It's good to have both. It's great to just pick up a phone and call Taylor and say, 'I have people following me, and I'm having a bad day,' but if I were to say that to someone else, it's like, 'Oh, boo hoo.' But it's nice to have people back home that grew up with me too."

Regarding love, the Disney star remains optimistic, and is looking forward to having a random encounter with the man of her dreams.

"I believe in love -- yes, I'm one of those girls," she says. "Most of my friends believe in love. I went out with Katy Perry last night. She's so fun and awesome, but it's cool to see someone older believe in love too. She is all about it, and that's how I will always be. I believe in stories like, 'Oh, I met him in Starbucks.'"

At the end of the day, Gomez struggles with the same problems as everyone else.

The star confessed she doesn't get ''asked out a lot" because she "looks like this [Bazaar points out she's wearing a flannel shirt and a chunky knit scarf] all the time," and when [she] actually looks presentable, [she's] at awards shows. "It's not like I've wanted to go out and look for someone. I'm not really good at that."
