Pope emeritus' retirement wear includes a white baseball cap

If you thought the pope emeritus would transition from his traditional robes to Bermuda shorts as soon as he retired, you might be disappointed with Chi magazine's first glimpse of Benedict XVI strolling through the gardens of his summer retreat.

Chi, which famously nabbed photos of a topless, sun-bathing Kate Middleton, spotted the 85-year-old ex-pope decked out in his favorite color, including the white baseball cap he sported in 2010, while walking with the help of a cane at Castel Gandolfo.

Benedict reportedly spent his first night at Gandolfo watching television coverage of his departure.

"He really appreciated the coverage,” Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said. “A pope can also appreciate good media work in his heart".
