It might be time for a meme to die when participants start getting fired for it. The viral dance craze that has already resulted in school suspensions and an FAA investigation got 15 miners fired from a gold mine in Western Australia last week.

Though only eight Agnew Gold workers appeared in the YouTube video -- in which miners in various states of undress do the "Harlem Shake" and "The Worm" underground -- some were fired for watching the antics off-camera.

Though one sacked miner told The Western Australian they were just "having a bit of fun," Agnew Gold owner Barminco released a statement saying the workers, who earn six-figure salaries, had violated the organization's "core values of safety, integrity and excellence."

According to the Daily Mail, supporters of the fired miners have started a Facebook page to get the group reinstated. "Bloody Hell, they got their gear off and did a dance!" it reads.

No-one is debating the need for safety in an area such as underground mining but for god sake, these guys have learnt their lesson. They didn't steal, they didn't try to hurt anyone, they didn't damage equipment. I don't think they're going to to do it again in a hurry - they have families to support!
