Oscar style-watchers and "Modern Family" fans missed seeing Sofia Vergara on the red carpet Sunday, but the 40-year-old actress had a pretty good excuse for skipping out on her scheduled appearance at this year's Oscars ceremony.
Though rumors swirled that Vergara had been hospitalized for an unidentified operation, The New York Post reported Monday that she had just come down with a bad case of the flu.
“She came down with a nasty case of flu and had to cancel all plans for Oscar weekend," a source told the Post.
Vergara herself confirmed her illness over Twitter Sunday.
"Watching the Oscars at home so I dont give everyone the flu haha!" she tweeted, along with a photo of herself relaxing in bed.
