What makes Bomb Bird so angry? Why is the King Pig the King Pig? And are those mischievous piggies ever going to get hold of the eggs?

Rovio, makers of Angry Birds, have announced that their animated television series based on the game will answer all those questions. Starting March 16, "Angry Birds Toons" will show a new episode every week featuring the adventures of the egg-stealing pigs and the familiar angry birds.

At first, Angry Birds fans will have to see the series on Rovio's website. The show has been licensed to a broadcaster in Ukraine, who will give "Angry Birds Toons" its on-air debut next month. But Finland-based Rovio plans to further extend its hugely successful Angry Birds brand. More than 260 million users have downloaded one of Rovio's Angry Birds apps — an impressive potential audience reach. The animated series should also be a driver for future sales of games and Angry Birds toys and merchandise, especially if it gets picked up in other markets.
