A New York man is in jail after avoiding paying his child support--more than $1.2 million worth--for 11 years.

Robert Sand, who prosecutors dubbed the "No. 1 deadbeat parent," pleaded guilty to hiding out in Thailand to avoid paying child support to his two ex-wives, the New York Daily News reported.

Sand, 50, faces up to four years in prison. He has three children.

One of the ex-wives, Lisa Sand, says she hopes the judge will show some leniency.

"He's not good to me in jail," she said. "He needs to work to start paying back."

Sand was extradited to the U.S. after traveling from Thailand to the Philippines, where Assistant U.S. Attorney Allen Bode said he knew he would be caught.
