Did you or your Valentine grow up in the nineties? The once-popular egg-shaped virtual pets are back Thursday as a smartphone app available for Android in the Google Play store. From the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. (Love is fun everywhere) app page:

"It's Tamagotchi's Sweet 16 this year and we’re giving you the gift! Bandai has created the first ever Tamagotchi L.i.f.e. App, based on the original virtual pet, and it’s yours, FREE!"

The pets that were known for dying from neglect can now be cared for from smartphones and tablets, with an iOS version in the works. The pets will be in color and high resolution with new characters, signature wallpapers and an option to share on Facebook.
