Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Bruce Willis opened up about sobriety, never being nominated for an Oscar and his political aspirations in GQ's March issue.

With another Die Hard movie hitting theaters on Valentine's Day, Willis explained that working in action-packed type movies all the time comes with a price: no Academy Award consideration.

"You don't get an Oscar for comedy, and you don't get it for shooting people," Willis told GQ. "You get it for novelty, of being fascinating to watch in some character role. But the Die Hard stuff and Dirty Harry are all fraught with the same thing that every story is fraught with."

But despite his no-Oscar nomination the 57-year-old actor is the proud holder of several other awards. Willis has an Emmy and a Golden Globe which he got for starring on TV's Moonlighting. In addition, he was appointed Commander in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government on Monday.

When confronted about the future and his possible political aspirations, the actor denied having any, and confessed that he'll try to stretch his career as an actor as much as he can.

"I'm going to try to keep the machine moving forward as much as possible and not have to think about the eventuality of becoming more frail and less able to do the work," Willis said. "I know that I'm not going into politics. That's not an option."

In regards to his controversial relationship with alcohol, Willis admitted to having it under control.

"I had been sober [for a while]," he said. "But once I realized that I wasn't gonna run myself off the pier of life with alcohol, drinking vodka out of the bottle every day…I have wine now, mostly when I eat."
