Pattie Mallette, who gave birth to mega-star Justin Bieber in her teens, said on the "Today" show Thursday morning that she produced the short film "Crescendo" in the hopes of raising movie for pregnancy centers that help young women in need.

"I don't think that it is a pro-life message," Mallette said of the film, the story of Beethoven's mother, who contemplated abortion by suicide. "People are going to get from it what they want to. It's a true story, it's a historical piece."

"I'm not trying to make a political stance," Mallette added. "I'm here just to help the girls."

"Today's" Savannah Guthrie also asked Mallette about how her son was coping with his much-publicized breakup with Selena Gomez. According to some reports, Mallette's a pretty big fan of the ex-Disney Channel star and has hopes for a reconciliation.

"You know, I just try and support whatever he's wanting. I think she’s a sweetheart and whatever they decide is great," Mallette said.
