Has Katy Perry finally curbed John Mayer's playboy ways? The 35-year-old singer has a reputation as a heartless womanizer who's eft a string of unhappy and embarassed ex-girlfriends in his wake, from Jennifer Aniston to to the perpetually bitter Taylor Swift. Remember when he called Jessica Simpson "sexual napalm" and "crack cocaine" in a 2010 interview with Playboy?

But just last month he told Rolling Stone he was "quite happy" in his relationship with Perry, after appearing with her at President Barack Obama's inauguration. And now he's coming clean about his not-so-stellar behavior in previous relationships.

"I was just a jerk," Mayer admitted in an upcoming episode of CBS' "Sunday Morning," according to the Los Angeles Times.

“It’s very liberating when you finally realize it’s impossible to make everyone like you," Mayer told CBS' Anthony Mason. I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction.”

Mason's interview with Mayer airs on "CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood" on Sunday, Feb. 10.
