Stephen Colbert's sister, Elizabeth Colbert Busch, is running for Congress on the South Carolina ballot this spring. Elizabeth will seek the Democratic nomination in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, the seat left vacant by Tim Scott’s appointment to the Senate to replace Jim DeMint, CNN reported. Her brother, Stephen, who is no stranger to politics, discussed the news on his show last night.

"Holy Cow, my sister's running for Congress!" he exclaimed after describing the benefits of being a native South Carolinian (peaches, shrimp, and the most generous average humidity in America... 86%).

Being the serious broadcast journalist that he is, Colbert said he would not use his celebrity to endorse his "intelligent, hard working, compassionate and dedicated" sister, 'LuLu.' Instead, he decided to lend republicans a hand and revealed a tip on how to defeat her in an argument.

"Right after she makes a good point, repeat it back to her in a dumb voice," he said before giving a live example of how that would work in a debate.
