Though People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals acknowledged that Sunday night's Super Bowl game "was great," the animal rights group took issue with halftime performer Beyonce's wardrobe choice.

Designed by Rubin Singer, Beyonce's Super Bowl custom-made outfit included a leather motorcycle jacket and bodysuit with python and iguana strips, according to The New York Times.

In a statement, PETA said Beyonce's use of animal skin was behind the sartorial times (via HuffPo):

We would take a bet that if Beyoncé watched our video exposés here and here, she'd probably not want to be seen again in anything made of snakes, lizards, rabbits, or other animals who died painfully. Today's fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and Beyoncé's Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score.

The activist group also criticized the singer for wearing a mink fur coat to President Barack Obama's inauguration last month.
