Ashley Judd mocked in American Crossroads ad

Some Republicans must be worried about Mitch McConnell's Kentucky Senate seat, because conservative super PAC American Crossroads mocked Ashley Judd in an attack ad released Wednesday, depicting her as a Hollywood radical who looks down on Kentuckians as hillbillies. The 44-year-old actress and liberal activist is said to be considering a 2014 Senate bid, though she has yet to officially announce her candidacy.

American Crossroads, the conservative organization founded by Ed Gillespie and Karl Rove, put up $10,000 in digital advertising for the spot, which will run for two weeks, according to Roll Call.

The mock campaign ad satirically casts Judd as an Obama-loving Hollywood liberal who looks down on Kentuckians.

Judd's rep released a statement in response to the ad saying, "Ashley thanks Senator McConnell, Karl Rove, and their negative allies for all the attention as she considers her future political plans, although a decision hasn’t been made yet."

Judd told The Louisville Courier-Journal last month that she was "taking a close look" at a run for office.

"The people of Kentucky need a fighter," Judd said. "And certainly going back 10 generations, I've got some fighters from those hills in my family."
