The New England Patriots sat out this year's Super Bowl, and their failure to reach the championship game was at least partly blamed on the broken left arm of Rob Gronkowksi.

Instead of taking the field at the Superdome as he and his teammates had hoped to do, Gronk, the Pat's tight end known for being one of quarterback Tom Brady's favorite down-field targets, spent his weekend carousing in Sin City, drinking, partying, and... wrestling?

TMZ caught up with Gronkowski in Vegas, and caught footage of the NFL star doing his best impression of pro wrestler Jake "The Snake" Roberts by putting one of his friends into on of Roberts' signature 'DDT' headlocks at XS nightclub.

The move, which involves an inverted headlock and falling forward onto an opponent, landed Gronk on his bad left arm.

Gronkowski popped right back up, apparently without doing any further damage to his injured--and very expensive ($54 million/6 year!) arm--but it's probably not the best move for a guy who makes his living by catching things.

New England fans will be relieved to know that, at least, Gronkowski was wearing his protective arm sleeve when the incident went down.
