Since Disney bought LucasFilms Star Wars news has swirled. In January J.J. Abrams signed on to direct Episode VII to ring in the new trilogy.

Disney reportedly wants its new Star Wars series, which will consist of a new movie every two to three years, have solo spin-off movies in between the bigger films. These would expand into other parts of the Star Wars universe allowing Disney to capitalize on any character and any timeline.

Captain America director Joe Johnston was considered for Star Wars before Abrams got the job. Back in 2011, Johnston called for a feature based on Boba Fett, and some hope he might still direct one. There's even a (small) Facebook group dedicated to a Boba Fett stand-alone.

The first of these solo spin-offs is currently rumored to focus on Yoda. No comments from Lucas or Abrams on solo features, but Yoda seems like a safe star to start with. The 900-year-old character has plenty of timeline to draw on. His speech could get on fans' nerves, though. Too many bad jokes to be made, there are.
