Feb. 4 (UPI) -- "I can walk a little bit and I'm feeling better," Malala Yousufzai said Monday after two surgeries in which doctors implanted a titanium plate into her skull and a cochlear hearing device into her ear.

According to CNN, the 15-year-old Pakistani education activist, who was shot by Taliban gunman last October, Yousufzai won't need further surgery.

Yousufzai spoke out publicly for the first time since the attack in a video recorded Saturday before the surgeries but uploaded Monday.

"Today you can see that I'm alive," Yousufzai says in the video, created by the women's leadership non-profit, Vital Voices. "I can speak, I can see you, I can see everyone."

The 15-year-old also says she's "getting better everyday," thanks to the well wishes and prayers of supporters. She encourages viewers to donate to The Malala Fund, an initiative in support of girls' education around the world.
