Dakota Fanning, who turned 18 last February 23, said she was surprised by the controversy over her provocative perfume ad for designer Marc Jacobs. The 2011 advertisement featured the then 17-year-old actress posing with a flower-capped perfume bottle between her legs.

"If you want to read something into a perfume bottle, then I guess you can," Glamour mag's March cover girl said in her interview. "But it's also like, 'Why are you making it about that, you creep?' I love Marc and trust him, and we just laughed about it."

The U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority banned the image, saying in a statement that Fanning was made to look younger than her age.

We noted that the model was holding up the perfume bottle which rested in her lap between her legs and we considered that its position was sexually provocative. We understood the model was 17 years old but we considered she looked under the age of 16. We considered that the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality.

Fanning also recently spoke to MTV News about her "newly allowed" nude scene for her 2013 film "Very Good Girls."

"Yeah, well, I've never done that before and I'm very newly allowed to do that," the actress said. "I was newly 18, so yeah, it was, it's kind of a sensitive thing, but it's a part of life."
