Ashton Kutcher's method acting while preparing to reincarnate Steve Jobs for the upcoming biopic, landed the 'Two and a Half Men' star in the hospital, as he went "fruitarian" to emulate his character to perfection, The USA Today reported.

"First of all, the fruitarian diet can lead to like severe issues" Kutcher told reporters Friday at the Sundance Film Festival. "I ended up in the hospital two days before we started shooting the movie. I was doubled over in pain, and my pancreas levels were completely out of whack — which was completely terrifying, considering everything."

Jobs died of pancreatic cancer in 2011, a disease he had been fighting since 2003.

Kutcher's film, jOBS, will debut in theaters in April 2013. The film was directed by Joshua Michael Stern and it will be the first of two biopics about the life of Apple's founder, Steve Jobs. The second one is currently being penned by Aaron Sorkin and will be produced by Sony Pictures.

Here's a sneak peek at Kutcher's jOBS.
