During Wednesday's daily briefing at the White House, Press Secretary Jay Carney engaged in a little accidental 2016 speculation when he mistakenly said "President Clinton" when he meant President Obama.

Answering a question about Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's testimony on the Hill, Carney misspoke:

"I think you can square it stating it clearly, which Secretary of State Clinton did and which President Clinton has, and I have and others--"

"President Obama," clarified someone in the audience.

"I mean, sorry, President Obama has, Secretary of State Clinton, President Obama, Press Secretary Carney," Carney corrected, to laughter. "Thank you."

"I thought you weren’t going to speculate much," another reporter commented.

"Was that a lip-sync?" asked another, referring to Beyonce and her lip-synced performance at the inauguration Monday.

"You stole my thunder," Carney joked. "I was going to make a lip-sync joke later."

Later, Carney explained he had just spoken with Bill Clinton, and the 42nd president was "in [his] head."

The slip happens just after 3:55.
