During testimony before a Senate committee on the Benghazi attacks, Senator Rand Paul, R-Ky., minced no words in his criticism of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's response to the crisis as it unfolded.

Calling the attacks the left four Americans dead on Libyan soil "a failure of leadership" and the "worst tragedy since 9/11," Paul said that "had I been president at the time... I would have relieved you of your post."

Paul later said he thought the Benghazi mission should have been given a military guard, like in Baghdad.

Clinton, in her response, hinted that Paul's line of questioning was politically-tinged.

"The reason that we put into effect an accountability review board is to take it out of the heat of politics and partisanship and accusations, and to put it in the hands of people who have no stake in the outcome," Clinton said. "I believe in transparency, I believe in taking responsibility, and I have done so."
