Aretha Franklin, Anderson Cooper defend Beyonce lip-sync

Aretha Franklin is not joining the ranks of people who feel betrayed by Beyonce.

"She did a beautiful job with the pre-record," Franklin told ABC News. "Next time I'll probably do the same."

"When I heard the news this evening that she was pre-recorded I really laughed. I thought it was funny because the weather down there was about 46 or 44 degrees and for most singers that is just not good singing weather," Franklin said.

But the Queen of Soul didn't even consider lip-syncing during her inauguration day performance of "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" back in 2009.

Anderson Cooper has also defended Beyonce's decision to lip-sync.

"It's not like she pulled a Milli Vanilli," Anderson Cooper said on AC360 Tuesday night, defending the 31-year-old against allegations that she lip-synced the national anthem during Barack Obama's swearing-in ceremony Monday.

The CNN anchor used his "Ridiculist" segment to sound off on reports that Beyonce is not perfect (as everyone previously assumed) that she sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" to a pre-recorded track before a massive crowd at the inauguration.

"So what?" Cooper said. "As far as I’m concerned, it is Beyoncé’s world and we’re just living in it"

"I just don't care. We got to look at Beyonce's beautiful face and hear Beyonce's beautiful voice singing the national anthem. There's only one thing we should be saying today and that is, 'thank you Beyonce," Cooper said.

"I'm telling you, Francis Scott Key himself would send her a fruit basket," he added.
