The Russian Space Agency, Roscosmos, announced on Tuesday that it will send a ship to the moon in 2015 to search for water and soil samples, Top News reported.

The unmanned spacecraft would launch from a new launchpad in the Amur Region of Russia, known as the Vostochny cosmodrome. The Lunar-Glob, is the first of a four part lunar mission that had been put on hold due to funding issues, but has now been reactivated. The mission will begin in 2015 with the launch of a spacecraft carrying a 1,100-pound exploration vehicle along with 55 lbs. of scientific equipment.

After the 2015 mission, Russia is reportedly planing on building a fully robotic moon base, The Inquisitr reported.
