Nicki Minaj sat down with Ellen DeGeneres Tuesday to discuss "American Idol's" 12th season, which starts Wednesday, and her much-publicized, ratings-baiting feud with fellow judge Mariah Carey.

"It was just two big ole divas I guess," Minaj explained. "I kinda started feeling a little of the shade and I just kind of over compensated by being crazier," Minaj said of the onscreen tension between the two pop stars.

The 30-year-old Minaj insisted, however, that she had no hard feelings: "We're fine. I cannot hold a grudge against Mariah Carey. What people don't understand is I've looked up to her for so many years."
