'I've been stolen': 5-year-old girl targeted by kidnapper

A 5-year-old girl who was abducted from school Monday was discovered by passerby at at a Philadelphia playground early Tuesday morning.

"I've been stolen," the little girl reportedly told the Good Samaritan who saw the child cowering under a sliding board, the Philadelphia-area Fox affiliate reported.

The kindergartner was reportedly taken from Bryant Elementary School around 9 a.m. Monday when a woman identifying herself as "Tiffany" and claiming to be her mother took the child out of her classroom.

"This was not a random act, in fact this child was targeted," said Capt. John Darby of the Philadelphia Police Department Special Victims Unit at a news conference. "The woman who came into that school kind of knew exactly what to do, where to go , who to see."

Police issued an Amber Alert later Monday.

At 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, 27-year-old sanitation worker Nelson Mandela Myers heard the girl's screams walking by Upper Darby Park. He told the news conference the child was wearing only a damp t-shirt and freezing.

Myers, who has his own 5-year-old daughter, wrapped the child in his jacket and called the police. She was reuinted with her mother at Philadelphia Children's Hospital after doctors determined there were no overt signs of sexual contact or injuries.

Police said they believe the girl was left at the park, but had been blindfolded and kept under a bed someplace between the school in Southwest Philadelphia and the park in Upper Darby.

The investigation may take several turns here and has already," Darby said. "We're more interested in finding out, identifying, locating and apprehending the individual took this child."

A $15,000 reward has been offered by the city and the police for information leading to an arrest.
