Nowadays, Ryan Gosling is a successful actor with heart-stopping good looks and a penchant for real-life heroism. But once upon a time, a much younger Ryan Gosling lived in the same Orlando apartment complex as A.J. McLean from the Backstreet Boys, when the actor starred in Disney's breeding ground for future celebrities, "The Mickey Mouse Club."

In a recent interview with Celebuzz, Gosling said he didn't believe the Backstreet Boys would amount to anything.

When I was doing 'The Mickey Mouse Club,' we were living in the same place as that guy A.J. from the Backstreet Boys. ... They were just forming that band, so he was saying how big they were going to be and he had a poster of them in his house. We were like, it’s never going to happen. Yeah, right. Didn’t they already do that with New Kids? You’re a little late. Cut to -- I was wrong.

"You can’t live in the past. You’ve got to live in the now. That ship has sailed," Gosling said when asked if he had any regrets, joking that McLean had never returned his calls.

"I am so sorry I didn't call you back, dude," McLean told TMZ cameras.

"If we ever want a sixth Backstreet Boy I'm gonna call you," McLean said, adding that Gosling was "not only a great actor and a handsome man," but also a "great singer."

"My wife is obsessed," McLean said.
