We still don't know how Father Tom Donovan got himself gagged and stuck in a pair of handcuffs, but we know it happened because he called 911 to request help to take it all off.

“I’m going to need help getting out before this becomes a medical emergency,” a gagged-sounding Donovan told a dispatcher during the Nov. 28 call.

“You’re stuck in a pair of handcuffs?” the dispatcher asked incredulous.

“(I was) playing with them and I need help getting out,” the pastor responded.

Here's how the distress call went,

Though Donovan held a 1:41 second long conversation with the dispatcher, he fails to mention exactly how or why he ended up in such a peculiar situation, and makes no reference as to why his speech sounds muffled. According to the Illinois Times, sources say that police discovered some form of gag on the priest when they arrived to help him.

The Father is currently on a leave of absence that was requested before the mysterious tape became public, the Illinois Times reported Thursday.
